Solex Manfacturing Sunderland Sunday League Rules 2007/08


1. The amalgamation of clubs shall be called “The Solex Manufacturing Sunderland Sunday League” and shall consist of clubs grouped into divisions by the management committee. The competition is governed by the general rules of the league as per Durham County Football Association Rule Book, and the following special rules.

2. Each club to pay an annual subscription of £55 to include all cup competitions, 1st payment of £35 by 1st of September 2nd payment by the 1st of January in a season, in addition each club to pay a guarantee fee pf £10 before the 1st of October, each new club to pay an entrance fee of £10 with application form. If not paid clubs will be fine £20 and fixtures suspended until paid.

3. The management of the league shall be vested in the management committee consisting of league officials and a maximum of twelve representatives elected at the annual general meeting.

4. A player is eligible to play in the league of he has been registered with the league 72 hours before any league game. A stamped addressed envelope to be sent with registration forms, clubs in default shall be fined £3.

5. All games under the jurisdiction of the league shall be played on Sundays except be the permission of the management and shall be arranged monthly, all games to be a 1030 am kick off. Each club to play at least two evening matches before the end of September and at the end of the season when required, kick off 615pm.

6. Any club not represented at the monthly meeting shall be fined £10 and double for consecutive meetings. A club missing three consecutive meetings will have their position at the league looked into at the A. G. M with regards to being expelled from the league.

7. A referee in each game will be paid £16 plus 30p per mile, or actual bus fairs if using public transport.

8. The winners of each division to hold a championship cup. 17 trophies will be provided, and if funds permit also for the runner up.

9. Home clubs shall notify referee and opposing clubs 4 days before match is to be played writing. Clubs failing to this rule shall be fine £5.

10. All result sheets to be received by the league secretary within 72 hours of the match being played, they must be correctly filled in with all the relevant information required by the league secretary. Clubs in default shall be fined £5.

11. Forms to be obtained from the league treasurer, Transfer forms £2, results sheets and registration forms 5 for £1, clubs using unofficial forms will be fined £3.

12. Protests and complaints must be logged in duplicate within 7 days of the match being played with a fee of £5, any club found having played an ineligible player shall be fined £35 and have 3 points deducted and the game replayed if necessary. Fine will be doubled for further offences. Fee may be forfeited at the discretion of the management committee.

13. Clubs reported for late kick offs to be fined £1.

14. When a club has to cancel a game owing to a cup tie they must inform the referee, opposing club and league secretary 5 days in advance. Clubs in default shall be fined £5.

15. No club shall postpone a game unless engaged in an English, Durham or Charity cup tie, the name of the competition is to be sent to the league secretary, and approved by the 1st September, clubs in default shall be fined £2.

16. Clubs winning trophies to take a minimum number of tickets allocated for the presentation evening.

17. Promotion and relegation to be two up an two down, any other point regarding the constitution of the league to be settled by the management committee. All new clubs to be placed in the lowest division.

18. Any player being transferred from one club to another must sign a registration form as well as the transfer form, both forms to be sent to the registrations secretary, all transfers to be approved by the league. One transfer per player in any one season. A second may be granted at the discretion of the management committee.

19. All clubs must notify league secretary on or before the 31 st March of intention to continue membership of the league in the following season.
20. Monthly meetings to be held second Thursday of each month.

21. Any club failing to field a team to be fined £30 and forfeit 3 points, also pay referees fee, opposing teams travelling expenses if claimed. All claims to be in duplicate, no claim against the league. Fines doubled for further offences.

22. On the event of a tie for the championship or runners up, goal difference to count and if necessary the greater number of goals scored.

23. League secretary to have permission to cancel any game, if notice is given in writing 14 days before the game is to be played.

24. Auditors allowed to claim expenses.

25. A club at its discretion may use 3 substitute players at any time in a match except to replace a player who has been suspended from the game by the referee, the substitution can only be made when play is stopped for any reason and the referee has given permission. Substitutes to be named before the game, five players shall be named but only three to be used.

26. No player to be registered after the 31st of March.

27. Clubs in receipt of trophies at the end of the season must return each trophy in a clean undamaged condition . Trophies to be returned at the March meeting. Clubs failing to comply will be fined £30 if trophy damaged or lost clubs concerned must pay for the repair or replacement.
28. Any club not represented at the A. G. M will be fined £100.

29. Referees are to decide if the ground are fit to play, except for private grounds.

30. The two clubs with the lowest number of points in the lowest division to reapply to continue as members of the league.

31. All clubs must use goal nets.

32. It is essential that a players signature is obtained on the registration form no other person should be allowed to sign on behalf of an individual. Clubs in default to be fined £30 and have 3 points deducted.

33. All home secretaries to telephone in results to league secretary by 6pm on Sundays or 10pm for midweek matches. Clubs in default to be fined £3.

34. All clubs are only permitted to enter 3 charity cup competitions.

35. All clubs within the league are to take players insurance supplied by the league. This is to be paid by ten monthly instalments. Any club resigning from the league will be liable to pay the full seasons premium.

36. Any Club resigning from the league during the season will be fined £100 and pay all other monies owed to the league.

37. No transfers to be allowed from the start of the season until the 30th September.

38. Any club having a cheque returned to the league unpaid shall be fined £25 and any bank charges incurred by the league.

39. Any club who persistently infringe league rules to be charged with bringing the league into disrepute.

Knockout Cup Competitions


1. The competitions are governed by the general rules of charity competitions of the Durham Football Association and the rules of the competitions shall be called “Sunderland Sunday League Cup Competitions” and shall be confined to members of the Sunderland Sunday Football League all of whom shall subscribe.

2. A recognized player is one who has been registered 14 days in the league to be eligible, no player can play for more than one club in any season in the same competition. For semi finals and finals players must have played at least three league games for the club.

3. A referee in each game shall be paid a fee of £16 plus 30p per mile expenses or actual bus fares if using public transport, postponed games half fee, each club to pay equal shares assistant referees in semi final and final tie to be paid full fee. Each club to pay equal share if tie postponed.

4. Protests and complaints must be lodged in duplicate within 7 days of the match being played with a fee of £5, any club found guilty of fielding an ineligible player or failing to fulfil a fixture without an acceptable reason, will be fined £35 and the tie awarded to the opposing club, fee may be forfeited at the discretion of the management committee.

5. All cup matches to be decided on the day ie extra time penalties.

6. The management of the competition shall be vested in the management committee of the league.

7. Any league rule applicable will apply where necessary.

8. If cup tie is postponed it will be played the following week, of home teams ground is not available the game will be played on the oppositions ground.
